How to access this service?
All referrals come directly from the MCFD Youth Service Social Workers in the Central Okanagan. After receiving a referral, the program counsellor contacts the family to discuss the program and answer the family’s questions. An initial meeting is then set up, and at that time service plan development begins.
HOW LONG DOES THE COLLABORATIVE YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM WORK WITH FAMILIES?
Service is intended to be intensive and short term, however, duration and frequency depends on the individual needs and goals of each family. The goal is to transition when parents feel confident in their ability to support the youth in their care, or the family is ready for referral to other services or supports that will address ongoing strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
