Child Youth & Family Counsellors, SOARWrap - Part Time

ARC Programs is accepting applications from qualified Child, Youth & Family Counsellors, working with our SOAR Wrap Program, based in Penticton. This is a part-time position, working a minimum of 22 hours per week, however, this could be linked with other part-time work to bring the hours up to 38-40 hours per week. The Counsellor will provide intensive in-home intervention and support services for referred children in care and their foster families, as well as out-of-care caregivers to reduce the risk of placement breakdown and develop the capacity of the caregivers to manage on an ongoing basis. The Counsellor will also provide case management support to Resources and Guardianship Social Workers and other involved service providers involved in the case management team. Working from a strength-based, solution-focused approach, the Counsellor will cooperate with the youth, caregivers and Ministry Social Worker in the assessment of the youth’s needs and development of an individualized service plan, while initiating direct services to address the immediate needs. The Counsellor will work directly with the program youth to support them to engage in other needed services, support life and pro-social skills development, support engagement in recreational and other positive activities, etc. The Counsellor will also be involved in providing support and mentoring of caregivers to engage with youth in their care, as well as providing support and crisis intervention in the caregiver’s home. Program services will be provided on an outreach basis, serving the communities of the south Okanagan.

Candidates for this position will possess sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description. Ideally, candidates will have experience and training working with high-risk youth, service coordination, parenting education and support, collaborative problem-solving, conflict resolution, trauma informed care, and must have the ability to connect with youth. The preferred qualifications for the position are; Child and Youth Care Degree, Social Work Degree, or other Human Services related training {diploma} and direct experience working with children and youth.
