Child, Youth & Family Counsellor {CYSN Support}

ARC Programs is now accepting applications from qualified Child, Youth & Family Counsellors, to provide leave coverage with the CYSN Family Support Program, serving the East & West Kootenay service delivery area. The CYSN Family Support Counsellor will provide various services to families and their children, or youth {0-18}, who are eligible for Ministry CYSN services. The Counsellor will be working with children or youth diagnosed on the autism spectrum, or with developmental disabilities, with FASD, with complex developmental behavioural conditions, complex medical conditions, or other special needs. The Counsellor will provide in-home assessment, education, support, skill building and behaviour intervention; as well as support for coordination of services for the families with other service partners and stakeholders. The Counsellor will work to increase the capacity of families served to better respond to their child’s/youth’s individual needs, and ensure a strong parent-child relationship. The Counsellor will develop an individualized support plan, which may include behaviour intervention strategies to reduce problem behaviours, skill building and family coping strategies, increasing parent capacity, and developing community and natural supports.

Candidates for this position will possess sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description, such as knowledge and experience serving the target population, knowledge of developmental behavioural conditions, parenting skills training/support experience. The qualifications of this position are a BSW, BA {psych}, BA {child and youth care}, and related experience.
