ARC Programs is seeking individuals, couples, or families interested in becoming Home Share Caregivers.
Home Sharing is a supported living option funded by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC), for adults with a developmental disability.
Home Sharing arrangements can vary, depending on the unique needs of the individual. Most arrangements involve an individual and a Home Sharing Caregiver sharing the Caregivers house, or apartment, which can be owned or rented. For some Home Share situations people live together as roommates, while some involve a whole family supporting an individual, with one family member being the primary Home Sharing Caregiver.
The role of the Home Share Caregiver is to provide safe care and support for the person you have invited into your life, in an accepting, inclusive environment. Support is flexible and evolves according to the individuals changing needs. For some individuals, home sharing is a stepping-stone to even greater independence, for others it is an arrangement that last for years. The home share provider is responsible for the safety, health and the well-being of the individual, as well as supporting opportunities for personal and social development within your household and with his or her family and in the broader community.
Home Share providers are compensated for this service and depending on the individual living with them, the compensation can vary. Compensation amounts as noted vary, but most start at $2000.00 per month, and go up depending on the individual’s needs. In addition, Home Share providers will also receive supports from the Host Agency (ARC Programs), and the individual in the home may also receive supports from a one-on-one worker for a set number of hours each week.
