Youth Workers - Specialized Care (RELIEF) - Kootenays

ARC Programs is now accepting applications for Relief Youth Workers to fill positions in our staffed resource, located in Castlegar BC.

Working as part of a collaborative case management team, Youth Workers will provide for the physical care and emotional nurturing of youth living in the home, and will provide skilled intervention and supervision, while supporting children and youth to improve their emotional wellbeing, and build healthy lifestyles.

Applicants should be aware that this position involves supporting young people who have complex needs and challenging behaviours, and responding to crisis situations.

Relief applicants will fill staffing vacancies on an on-call basis. Applicants should expect to cover a variety of morning, afternoon and overnight shifts, including weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

The position requires sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description.

Qualifications include a Degree, Diploma or Certificate in a related field (ie: Social Work, Human Service Worker, Child & Youth Care, Community Support Worker) or a combination of relevant training and experience.

Ideally candidates will have experience working with high-risk children and youth with complex behavioural challenges, and preferably in a group-home setting.

The successful applicants will be subject to an extensive screening process, including a criminal record search, to confirm suitability for the position.

Applicants must have a valid driver license.
