Central Okanagan Service

Specialized Homes and Support Services

Program Overview

The Specialized Care program provides trauma-informed and healing-centred approaches from an attachment-based and developmental lens for youth-in-care who have complex support needs in a staffed home-based setting.  All youth served are in the care of MCFD.

The primary goals of the program are to decrease challenging behaviour, build skills, improve general functioning and to increase connections with family, school, and community. The program will utilize Positive Behaviour Support Plans and other programming for youth with disabilities or a neurodiversity. The program will support youth and their caregivers to transition back to the youth’s family, with a foster home, extended family, or to a semi-independent living program.
